Ok so, let me just say this real quick; Peridot is probably my favorite gem. Why? Well she seems like one young angry nerd. How is that relevant you ask? Well, it’s not really, I’m putting more emphasis on the “young” part for this matter. 

I’m not sure if anyone has thought of this yet (most likely) but its been bothering me lately since she’s one of my favorite gems (and I don’t want to see her spiral into her inevitable evil demise) but has anyone considered that Peridot is younger than Amethyst? In the episode Marble Madness, it was revealed that Amethyst was around 6,000 years old, and when Amethyst was 1,000 years old, the battle between the gem homeworld and the CG’s happened (even though Amethyst wasn’t present). So Peridot may be around 4,000 years old if this is the case. Also in the episode Marble Madness, Peridot had no idea who the Crystal Gems even were. 

So if we go by my assumption, Peridot for all we know could of been raised by the Gem Homeworld government to help reactivate the kindergarten on earth (also in Marble Madness, to access the kindergarten completely it looked like you specifically needed a Peridot gem to do it) Peridot could of literally been lied to her whole life, believing that Earth is bad and anyone on it is bad. That could explain why Peridot was a little frightened at the crying breakfast waffle, because she had no idea what it was and for all we know she could of thought it was some anarchy symbol or whatever. Now here’s where I’m going to go a little more in depth, quoted from Matt Burnett via Twitter

Does this mean that Peridot may have some redemption? Like what if Peridot really was raised by the Gem Government, just trying to follow orders because that’s all she ever knew and that Earth was bad and they tried to keep the Crystal Gems a secret from her (or they really did think they all died somehow?) Another thing I found out is that (ironically, seeing all those flask robanoids healing/fixing the home warp portal) Peridot is the gem of healing and surprisingly a stone of happiness and helping people let go. 

I hope I’m not being to tinfoil-y but I’m honestly hoping there is some redemption for Peridot, seeing how she obviously knows nothing about Earth OR the Crystal Gems.  I mean, for all we know Peridot could find out all these things, and find out that Steven is a gem. Who knows what could happen there, seeing that she is obviously some technological genius. I, personally, think Peridot is going to continually play an important character throughout the show honestly, so lets hope for the best.
